About the Artist
My name is Ellie Dobie and I'm an artist:)
I studied primary school teaching at St. Patrick’s College, DCU where I received my BEd. I taught in Dublin for two years alongside an incredible staff in a school I loved. As much as I was enjoying teaching, time was passing quickly and I had an itch that became harder to ignore. I found myself constantly thinking about art and decided to take some time away from teaching to build my portfolio and focus on building my brand.
I began selling my art prints at markets in 2024 and loved it. I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to talk to people about art and I was amazed by the support I received.
I have always loved art and creating in many mediums, however painting was my first love. My subject matter usually consists of landscapes and wildlife. I would consider myself a huge colour enthusiast and I think this is reflected in my art. I usually receive my inspiration from my experiences, whether that be from hiking around Ireland or travelling abroad. Using colour helps me to reflect the feelings of fun I had on these adventures.
My artistic inspiration also comes from looking up to other artists I admire such as Annmarie Young, Erin Hanson and Maren Stubenvoll. I love their use of colour and styles to capture the western landscape. Receiving support from the artists I love has also been a wonderful experience.

Growing up in lovely Trim, I was never short of inspiration. I feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful place with so much history and biodiversity. There is a reason there are so many creative people celebrating their locality through the arts in Meath.
One of my favourite things to paint are the buzzards that I frequently see flying around my home and the surrounding areas of Trim. Most of my sunflower paintings are inspired by visiting the local sunflower fields at Guy farm. Some of my other paintings have also been a result of a visit to the Hill of Tara or the Royal Canal or other local places. As much as I love to paint places I have travelled to, I appreciate the inspiration that I am lucky enough to have in my home.
